BIO
Mr No Apologies
Created in the streets of Newark, New Jersey and shaped in the hoods of Irvington, NJ, Lamar Richburg was destined to be a gifted artist. The 5-foot framed rapper was always inspired to be in the music industry as an artist and a businessman. Following the epic footprints of Hip-Hop legend Jay-Z, Lamar crafted a persona, Da Golden Child or DGC; that sets him apart from the gimmicks in Hip-Hop.
DGC first ran into Hip-Hop in 1991, “I remember Tupac’s Brenda’s Got A Baby and Track and Trapped being played a lot in the house.” Influenced by Tupac’s rawness and awareness of society’s ill’s, Da Golden Child took a chapter of Tupac’s music catalogue and created conceptual songs that captured his hood of Ghostown. Writing bar by bar in his composition book everyday was DGC’s lifeline to improving his artistry.
Da Golden Child’s hard work paid off when his uncle introduced him into a local Hip-Hop artist/engineer/producer from Brick City, Internal Quest. The bond of lyricism and beats made DGC and Internal Quest’s relationship stronger, later Da Golden Child would be apart of a Brick City movement After Image Records. The 20-something rapper debuted his talent on After Image Records compilations It Ain’t Fair Mixtape, A.I. Presents: Heroes Mixtape and recently Hip-Hop: Where Amazing Happens. After 6 years of rapping and writing lyrics daily, DGC finally debuted his first solo mixtape titled No Apologiez that features Cruise Control, a conceptual track based on the 7 deadly sins broken down into two different stories. With the creativity and drive, Da Golden Child will shock many and make others believe. DGC is now working on his debut album War is Peace, Freedom is Slavery and will be releasing his follow-up mixtape The Grudge this summer
